"Yankees manager Joe Girardi said he expects
Brett Gardner to be ready to return from the 15-day disabled list on May
3, when he's eligible.
The Yankees begin a series against the Royals
that day.
"My thought is he will [be ready]," Girardi said. "If it takes
a few more days, it takes a few more days." Gardner was placed on the
disabled list Wednesday with what was termed as right elbow soreness. An
MRI showed a bone bruise and a strained extensor muscle on the outside
of his elbow. Andruw Jones and Raul Ibanez will form a platoon in left
until Gardner returns. "
